: hey kevin! congrats on the award! ok, i need some advice, i'm only 15 years old and really want to get into film. because of my age and cash flow i'm restrained from doing anything. i've heard the advice, "just do little stupid movies with your friends, goof around and have fun" well, when i try to do that, everyone goofs around and i'm trying to be serious about it all. i want to do everything, act, direct, edit, produce, but at my age and the piece of shit video camera i have, everything comes out as a half ass job. well, can ya help me out here?

Although I know exactly NOTHING about doing films at this point, I believe I can offer some insight...
Maybe some of your frustration comes from being TOO serious. I'm a musician so I kinda have an idea about this stuff. Maybe just loosen up a bit and goof off. What I do is if I'm having a hard time with one of my own songs I'll go and play something goofy like 'Earache my Eye'.
ANd yeah, I know how you feel about working with people who just wanna dick around. It sucks. But you know? IN the end of it all it's really all about having fun. And that's what you should do. So what I say is this....just go around filming you and your friends doing dumb shit and have a blast. You don't have to make a big epic right off the bat. I mean you're still 15 and still have plenty of time to prepare. Meanwhile get a job and save up a shit load of money. That way you can get some good equipment later on. Right now? Just go nuts with your camera and get good at it. You'd be suprised how fun it can be watching you and your friends doing dumb shit. Best of luck to you.

Chris
