Usually Roger Ebert answers questions from his readers, but in this
column he answered some questions from himself. One of them, and the
answer, was this:
Q. Now that you've had time to think about your list of the best
films of 1997, which runner-up title would you be most likely
to upgrade to the top 10?
A. Kevin Smith's "Chasing Amy." The writing is inspired, and its
combination of comedy and insight is rare among recent films.
He also predicted that Robin Williams would win the best supporting
actor Oscar and Affleck-Damon would win the original screenplay Oscar.
