I wasn't going to post this when it happened a few days ago, but now I think some of you -- and Mr. Smith -- may get a chuckle from it. True story:
This repairman came to my house to fix something. He and I had chatted the last time he visited my home for repairs. Told me he's a big comic book fan. Has a room in his own house for comic books. As I'm into movies, and know nothing of comics, I listened politely.
Well, I asked this guy if he knew the name Kevin Smith. "Of course! He wrote..." and proceeded to list all of Kevin's glorious work in the comic book genre. (He definitely mentioned Daredevil -- I'm sorry that I don't know Kevin's work in this area.) I said that I recently had joined Kevin's message boards, as I'm a big fan of his films.
*Get ready for the big punchline*
Repairman's reply:
"Oh, Kevin Smith makes movies TOO?"
Yep. It really, really happened. So Kev -- have a nice day. And keep writing those comic books. You obviously have quite an audience.
Kevin Smith. Talented comic book author. Film maker. Message board owner. Geez, what a guy ;)
