Once we get down to the last chapter of KILL BILL VOL. 2, what do we have? It's a fitfully entertaining, handsomely produced, beautifully executed dialogue and character-driven drama about love and parenthood and festering hurt. At the end of the day, am I the only one who thought that KILL BILL VOL. 2 was kind of sweet? I laughed, I cried, I flinched, I was sucked in and at the end of it all, I walked away with a new respect for Quentin's ability with drama, just like I did for you and your new film. The critics seem to overwhelmingly support Quentin's dramatic change of pace from the irreverence of the previous film. Quentin opted to close out his grindhouse epic with a solid dose of familial drama and he's a genius for it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these the same critics who crucified you for capping off years of dick and fart jokes with a solid dose of familial drama? I guess it goes to show you never can tell.
Back to the subject at hand, man, you aren't kidding about KBV2. Was Carradine brilliant or what? Did Uma the statuette-worthy goods or what? I tell you, the Superman speech made me want to give both, you and Quentin a big hug of thanks for the last 10 years of literate, Gen X, bad boy cinema.
