The main thing would be if your hair caught in them. I am forever pushing my hair behind my ears but back then, I would damn near tear my lobe trying to do that. Also, yeah, clothing would get caught in them, and they were pretty heavy.
You know what turned out to be more of a pain later on, when I got all the earrings in my cartilage. Everytime I washed my hair, dried my hair, got a hair cut--I nearly tore these out every time.
