if the mp3 itself was encoded with a higher bitrate or even a different codec than your player can handle, it can fail to play, or even appear on teh device. this wouldn’t be evident on your computer, which probably contains a multitude of codecs without your pretty lil head even being aware of it.

mp3s are not mp3s are not mp3s, ya know. how they are ripped and encoded can make quite a bit of difference on how or whether or not they play on your...equipment. lame, fhg, mp3pro...hell, even vbr can give a cheaper player nightmares.
