It turns out that the movie was actually playing at 3 different theatres here. A small indie theatre just outside of the Loop, a HUGE cinema on the West side of the city and in a medium sized theatre right off of Michigan Ave. I went to the Michigan Ave theatre, for a 6:10 showing.
Movie started late, which I HATE, but oh well. About 6:15 or so the longest most annoying previews on the planet started. I just remember sitting there, telling my friend that I about to shoot the person working the film if they don't hurry up, usually I like previews, but I just wanted the movie to start.
The theatre was about 1/2 full I would say, 50 to 60 people. Couples, a few elderly people, some families, which I found amusing and great and then a few groups of friends. I was sitting in front of a group of 6 guys, which was annoying, cause all I could hear was, where are jay & silent bob, this movie isn't as funny. I wanted to punch them in the face, but I tried to stay focused on the film. By the end of the movie, the guys shut up, did they like it, I'm sure it's not their favorite, but they finally shut up...so...
Overall, the crowd seemed to like it...I heard a lot of kids laughing at some scenes and people crying at the appropriate scenes. The friend who went with me, yelled at me after the movie, because I kept saying, "what are they talking about, I can hear Kevin everywhere in this film. It sounds just like him...what a bunch of crap..." so I guess I was a bit annoying too...
On the way out, I overheard people saying how much the liked it. I even heard one guy say, "even though Ben Affleck I still really liked it." I thought that was funny...I loved Ben in it. (Ok I always love Ben). I would say that the movie was 2 thumbs up, from this crowd.
I am planning to go again on Saturday with a friends kids, so I'm really looking forward to that, think it will be really great.
