I went to see the first showing of Friday and an afternoon showing on Sunday. (It was better the second time around!) I live in Indiana and went to the college town of Lafayette (Home of Purdue Universtiy!) to see the film!
Friday had me (a teenager) three other teenagers (clearly there for the power of the Affleck) and many middle-aged to old couples. The response was OK! I was really laughing at jokes, but the audience (except for the teens who LOVED it!) didn't seem really into it. One guy did applaus when Gertie died, but I scolede him appropriately
Sunday Afternoon was a different story. The crowd loved it. Every joke got a laugh and I saw some emotional faces as I was coming out. I talked to a guy in the restroom and he said that Kevin really must care about his daughter to write such an awesome (his exact wording) piece for her. I was kinda hit by that.
Each showing was about 50% full. Overall good crowds.
