: Anyone go last night? What were the crowds (if any) like? Percentage of theater empty/full?
I went to the late afternoon show. It was pretty packed. It played in the second biggest theater in the 16-plex and people who braved finding a stadium seat just before it started ended up getting denied and had to seat in the neck-breaker seats up front beneath the screen. It was a huge mix of people--little children with parents, teenage girls and boys, twentysomethings, middle-aged, elderly.... I'm curious to see what cinemascore makes of the crowds (if anyone gets the stats please post them!)
: Crowd reaction?
Laughs and applause at a few of the scenes (including the diaper changing scene at the Hard Rock Cafe and when Gertie finds Maya and Ollie in the shower). Though it should be noted that both showings I saw (in RP and Santa Rosa) the crowds let out a huge gasp when Ollie tells Gertie that he's trying to get back the life her and Gertrude took away from him.
And like I said last night a teenage girl in the audience yelled out "I loved this movie!" when the dedication to your father faded to black, and the crowds that were getting up to leave responded by saying to themselves "Yup," "Uh-huh,"....
: I wish I could hit every screening across the country and do a Q&A...
It would be fascinating, for sure. A lot of uncomfortable laughs were heard in yesterdays showing during the Maya and Ollie Q&A, probably because the parents that brought their little kids with them to the movie didn't expect such frank sexual talk (which made the scene all the more funnier to me to watch).
Speaking of Q&A's I can't wait until Wednesday's! Thanks a lot for coming to Nor Cal!
