: Anyone go last night? What were the crowds (if any) like? Percentage of theater empty/full?
: Crowd reaction?
: I wish I could hit every screening across the country and do a Q&A...
Hi Kevin,
I'm a little late to the game here, but I live in Sonoma County, California, and I did see the movie on opening night this past Friday. I had to go by myself as all of my friends who also dig your flicks wussed out on me. On that note, out of the 10 or so theatres around here, I only found 3 that were playing Jersey Girl, and the one I went to only played in one theatre, so I went at 9:50 pm, the last showing.
I'll be honest with you, I LOVED Jersey girl! The acting was top notch, and that young lady who played Gertrude stole my heart. I really enjoy movies that are true to life, and this one was for sure. You're best flick of them all, IMHO. :)
About the rest of the crowds reactions, I'd say the theatre was about half full (the one I was at seats about 300), there were a lot of teens and twenty somethings, and quite a few young couples. I did see some older folks with younger kids, and I almost wanted to tell the parents "cover their ears for the Kevin Smith dick and fart jokes!", but I figured that they would know better. :)
The area where I live (about an hour north of SF) is full of obnoxious youngsters who never shut up during films...they are loud and rude and can't seem to keep it quiet everytime I go out to see movies. I expected this for JG...but...
It was the oddest thing at this premiere, but everyone was completely silent after the irst 10 minutes into the film! Hardly a peep, save people who clapped when they saw Jason Lee (me included), and a ton of folks were crying their eyes out! I've never seen any movie get the kids around here to shut up like Jersey Girl did...and making people cry? I was pretty misty eyed myself I must admit.
I'll be out to see it again next week, and have been telling everyone I know that its a must see! Again, great work Kevin! :)
Best,
Erick
