First, I wanted to say that I'm completely psyched about Jersey Girl next Friday. I want to see a couple of movies, so I took notes from Smalls and plan to buy tickets to Jersey Girl and sneak in to them. Also, before I ask my question(s), I posted this earlier, but I doubt you saw it.. I went to my grandmother's house the day before yesterday and she was gushing about this new movie that she and all of her friends want desperately to see. I asked what it was and she said Jersey Girl, I was so excited you'd think it was my flick coming out. Anyway, I've convinced all of my friends who are staunch Jay and Bob fans to watch the trailer for Jersey Girl and now they can't wait either.. You don't have anything to worry about this time around, man. Now.. The question..
Okay, I was going to ask you this (if I had the chance) at the ECU Q&A but I'm not going to be able to go.. But..
1) What advice would you give to a young up and coming filmmaker for when it seems like everyone (meaning critics) is against you?
And lastly..
2) What exactly went through your head at the one Q&A that's on the Evening DVD when dude-man said .. "What's a Nubian?".. I saw the eyes roll and everyone could tell you were annoyed, but what goes through your head when something like that happens?
Thanks and good luck with the press and what not.. Also, it's very touching that you dedicated Jersey Girl to your father.. When you mentioned it last night, even though I'd heard you mention it before, I couldn't help but feel for you. I'd be devastated if I lost my father.
