I've been making flicks for a few years now, and I've been lucky enough to collaborate with a friend of mine who is a genius at producing, yet not too cluey at anything creative. It works brilliantly. Perhaps you should convince your friend that since you're the creative mastermind behind your projects he should stick to producing. Point out to him that it's still an incredibly significant role, and that the movies will still be his as well. It seems like the only solution that will, in the end, benefit you both.
