: to play the GH

...a character that no one under the age of 40 really knows anything about can inspire such negativity when a casting suggestion is put out there.

Basically, what anyone knows about the original Green Hornet is this--he's a newspaper publisher who also fights crime, aided and abetted by his chauffeur/ass-kicking sidekick Kato.

About the 2005 version...no one knows anything. Is it gonna be the same character? His kid? A copy boy from the newsroom? Would Jake (or whoever) be playing the young Hornet in flashbacks?

The one good thing about this movie, Kevin thought, is that no one really has any preconceived notions about the characters (other than the fact that Kato must continue to kick ass) so no one will be second-guessing every casting decision all the way through. Guess maybe he was wrong...

But really, until you know anything about the characters, why bitch about someone being "too young" or "too old"? Seems to me that anticipation for movies can be a lot more fun if you speculate on how someone like Jake might be used, rather than just railing against it without any real information.
