There's nothing illegal about copying, it's pirating that's illegal. If you're selling the copies, that's illegal. I think, and I'm not 100% on this, it's only legal to copy movies YOU own. In other words if you rent Bring It On Again from your local video rental chain and you copy it, you're in violation. If you own it...well, then you have bigger problems than dvd pirating on your hands, most likely.

Of course there's no guarantee what people will or won't use that software and hardware for. That's the argument usually given against letting it exist. Lots of complicated artistic/legal/profitmongering issues to consider, so it's hard to say one way or the other if it's a bad thing.

: Okay all. My husband just downloaded this semi expensive software that is able to copy any and all DVD's, regardless of any copyright. I admit I have played with it a little bit, but my overall opinion is this software shouldn't be available to own. The movie industry puts so much money into making, packaging, advertising, and distributing movies for us, and it's not right to be able to just copy it for free.

: Please give me your input.
