: : Children are allowed the right to pray in school, legally. If your child's school is denying them that right, you can sue over it.

: I know that children are allowed to pray. However that is not the point I was getting at.

Really? What was the point you were trying to make with the statement "My children are not allowed to pray in school", beyond implying that everybody gets persecuted a little bit? (Well, beyond trying to get all martyr-y; it's a thing that bugs me when the right-wing does it, but it *really* bugs me when it slips into more mainstream usage.)

: : Actually, they do, because if they ignore one specific marriage because of the beliefs of the church, that's religious discrimination, and the separation of church and state is simply that the state will never show a preference or bias in favor of any one specific religion, or group of religions, over another.

: But the issue is not over religious belief. The issue is over same sex marriage and this Presidents view is Christian yes. There is no preference being given to any one religion here. One point stated by Isis is that this is about recognition for benefits not religious persecution or bias.

I was responding to a specific thing; you said the government shouldn't recognize a specific religious marriage because of the people involved, and I said "that's religious discrimination to ignore their marriage."

I recognize that you're trying to say "no religion is allowed same-sex marriage, therefore it's not discrimination" but that's not how it works. To give you a parallel, if I were to say, "You can worship anybody you want as long as it isn't Jesus", that'd be discrimination, right?

but why? No *other* religion is allowed to worship Jesus either.

: And by the way take a couple of bong hits and mellow a little... you seem a little stressed

Nah, you just don't know the voice I write in. If I were stressed, I would've ripped you apart point by point, and stuck with it for the full day.
