: Children are allowed the right to pray in school, legally. If your child's school is denying them that right, you can sue over it.
I know that children are allowed to pray. However that is not the point I was getting at. I have had enough theology for one day. Maybe another time.
: Actually, they do, because if they ignore one specific marriage because of the beliefs of the church, that's religious discrimination, and the separation of church and state is simply that the state will never show a preference or bias in favor of any one specific religion, or group of religions, over another.
But the issue is not over religious belief. The issue is over same sex marriage and this Presidents view is Christian yes. There is no preference being given to any one religion here. One point stated by Isis is that this is about recognition for benefits not religious persecution or bias.
: : however, that said, when was the last time a non-christian president was elected... NEVER... of course they are going to push thier beliefs and values... that is who they are.
: I believe the point that you're responding to is that somebody is mad that Bush is governing entirely based on his religious beliefs, without tempering them at all based on the real-life situations he is in.
: : And just because an amendment is proposed it doesn't mean that it will be enacted... WE THE PEOPLE have to vote on it
: Did you get your political science degree in a Cracker Jack box? Both houses of Congress vote, followed by the state legislatures. You're thinking of the laws in California, where people get to vote on 'em.
My Bad... but not from a Cracker Jack Box... it was a box of Frosted Flakes.
And by the way take a couple of bong hits and mellow a little... you seem a little stressed
