: I am denying government acknowledgement. The same as my child is denied the right to pray in school if he wants to.

Children are allowed the right to pray in school, legally. If your child's school is denying them that right, you can sue over it.

The children aren't allowed to be led in prayer, and it's a gray area whether they're allowed to be speaking the prayers allowed (partially because it lends credence to the idea that the school is supporting a specific religion, but also because it's distracting to the people who are trying to learn/teach), but it's absolutely not true that prayer isn't allowed.

I'm curious; how would anybody stop anybody from praying, anyway? Since it requires no spoken words to pray, it's all between you and God. (Unless you need the Church to be involved as well, which is fine, but means that you'd have no reason to be praying outside of Church.)

: Nope... my government says that there is a separation of church and state... just because your church says you are married, my government doesn't have to...

Actually, they do, because if they ignore one specific marriage because of the beliefs of the church, that's religious discrimination, and the separation of church and state is simply that the state will never show a preference or bias in favor of any one specific religion, or group of religions, over another.

: however, that said, when was the last time a non chritian president was elected... NEVER... of course they are going to push thier beliefs and values... that is who they are.

I believe the point that you're responding to is that somebody is mad that Bush is governing entirely based on his religious beliefs, without tempering them at all based on the real-life situations he is in.

: And just because an amendment is proposed it doesn't mean that it will be enacted... WE THE PEOPLE have to vote on it

Did you get your political science degree in a Cracker Jack box? Both houses of Congress vote, followed by the state legislatures. You're thinking of the laws in California, where people get to vote on 'em.
