: I was not aware of this belief and being open minded to all beliefs, I have to say that I have no problems with a spiritual bond between 2 people... Love is Love whether it is traditional or gay. If your religion allows the joining of same sex partners I am no one to disagree or challenge it. However, I do not agree with the need for the government to acknowledge that as a sanctioned marriage.
So, you're basically saying if I'm not Christian, I shouldn't get married?
What about marriages done by justices of the peace, that have nothing to do with religion, between two atheists? Are those not valid religions?
No one is going to FORCE any church to marry gay people. It's simply an issue of getting someone all the tax breaks and social benefits that every couple is given.
You didn't answer my question about what rights they should be denied either. Hopefully someday you will come to understand that this is simply a biased and discriminatory attitude on your part. God is Love, God will never approve of the denial of Love; so hopefully someday you will let these thoughts go.
: No one has denied your religion. You can still have your spiritual ceremony to join you. But I as a non-ultra conservative Christian - and technically at least according to politicalcompass.org I am an authoritarian Leftist or a Communist - Do not have to allow your religious belief to tell the government that we have to recognize your union as a government sanctioned marriage.
WELLLLLL...
In that case, why does YOUR religious belief tell the government which unions they should recognize, or not?
What makes your religious belief more important than my religious belief?
