: I appreciate them a lot.

: I come back from picking my mom up at LAX... she's visiting for the week... and here's this really great thread of you all being awesome. Between you guys and seeing my ma for the first time in half a year, it's just a wonderful night.

: To answer questions:

: Why didn't I share this with everybody? Well... half just wanting to be professional about getting a job and half because I didn't want to seem braggarty or like I was trying to pull rank on you guys by working there. Mongo is but pawn in chess game of life, as they say.

: What do I do? Basically whatever Kevin and/or Gail need me to do. Sometimes I'm a runner... dropping stuff off at FedEx, taking packages to publicists and such in the suburbs, picking up cigarettes and coffee... sometimes I'm a general office assistant... helping Gail file away what's left of the Jersey Girl paperwork, pulling articles from the trade magazines... sometimes I'm a receptionist, though I'll be doing that a bit more when the setting up of some office spaces are sorted out. Sometimes I'm just that extra set of hands to be this place or that place to take a shipment of this or that.

: What's the word? Ombudsman? Lately, I've been organizing a lot of different spaces and places that got disorganized in various and sundry moves. It's fun stuff. I'm learning a lot, not the least of which is my finally getting a sense of direction in LA running errands. Until recently, I knew how to get groceries, how to get to my friends' houses, how to get to The Grove and... that was about it.

: How did it happen that I ended up doing this for them? In November, Kevin e-mailed me out of the blue, asking me if I wanted to organize some stuff for him that was willy-nilly after all the moving related to the flood to earn some pocket cash. And while doing that, he asked me if I wanted to be the new hand on deck for the West Coast offices when they opened in a coupla weeks.

: And they're great people to work for and with. Kevin, Gail, Byron, Jen, Mewes, Harley... and a bunch of people whose names wouldn't register for you guys too, their housekeeper and editors and techsupport guys... just some of the nicest people you've ever met.

: And they make you feel like a real part of the team, even if you're just the guy who runs for the mail and moves couches at the moment.

: I'm blessed, there's no doubt about it.

: Thanks to them... and thanks to you guys for the... thanks.

: And now, off for late dinner with my girlfriend and my mom. Another way I'm blessed.

: Mike

Good work.
