College def. isn't the real world. I mean, (if you are going away to school) - you live with your friends, you go out all the time, and you have little to no supervision. So, it's sort of at that point where you need to take SOME responsibility for getting through those necessary requirements for the degree. Not saying that it is hard, but you do actually have to make decisions related to majors and minors and narrow your focus a bit at least in deciding what classes you want to take and what you need to take. I sort of cake walked through college, and my grades def. reflect that, so you can get through four years with little effort.

However, if you want to go onto any advanced degrees - well, you do have to do well while you are there, otherwise you'll get locked out of programs and schools that you may have wanted. It's like the high school to college process all over again.

I'll tell you what, though--I find that I had a lot more selection of jobs in our bad economy than my friends who did not have the degrees. Even for assistant jobs, things were highly competitive, so it did pay off to have the degree. But, then again--my SUNY Albany degree doesn't stand up to the recent Harvard grad's degree.

Point being - I think everyone (if time and money allow) should go and get the B.A, B.S, or whatever. Or at least experience college. If not just for meeting new people and having new experiences. In addition to actually learning a few things here and there.
