M.D.s and insurance companies? Insurance companies gouge the consumer, doctors try to keep the consumer alive; what sort of conflict of interest is this? Unless you're talking about one of the rare insurance companies lead by an M.D.

I know a lot of med students and despite their flaws (and there are many), the vast majority truly get into medicine to help people.
