I've loved that name since I bought Our Lady Peace, the Clumsy album, and saw that the lead singers name was Raine Maida.
But I do thing that the e makes a difference in it being girl or boy. I don't think just Rain looks good as both boy and girl. But I really like Rain, so to make it look more masculine the e is a good addition. Mr. and Mrs. Maida had the right idea.
