Music In Movies...Help

I am a 19 Year Old Aspiring Movie Maker...I have a killer script and a great film crew at my disposal, I have no plans on going to film school yet, so my question could probably be anwsered there. but I was wondering if anyone new how to go about asking or paying for song rights in a movie. and which musicians song rights are outright expensive and which ones are relitivlty easy? Any help on this would be appreciated...Thanks
