I very rarely hit the theatres, these days.
There are two things that'll draw me to the houses of high prices and popcorn with nuclear half-lives:

1. Major special effects.
Even this has had less of a draw to me, of late. I saw the final installment of the Matrix for free; if I hadn't, I wouldn't have gone. I saw Return of the King in the theatres because my father paid for it - I saw the first 2 on DVD. Basically, as my monetary state declines, my visits to the movie theatres decrease dramatically.

2. Loyalty.
Given the opportunity, I will go see Jersey Girl in the theatres. But if my monetary situation doesn't allow for it, then that, too, will have to wait for DVD. I didn't see School of Rock in the theatres, either, and I'm a huge Jack Black/Tenacious D fan.

But I'll take your recommendation under advisement. If I don't get to see it in the theatres, I'll definitely pick it up on DVD when it comes out.
