I live for these moments, sir.

: 1. do you like Elvis Costello? What would you rate him, 1-10, 10 being the best?

I'll go with 10.

: 2. favorite elvis costello song?

"Sulky Girl", which is also my favourite song, period.

: 3. least favorite elvis costello song?

"What's So Funny About Peace, Love, And Understanding". I don't like that song at all. It's not really an real Elvis Costello song, it's a cover, and it just doesn't do anything for me at all.

: 4. favorite elvis costello album?

BRUTAL YOUTH, but that might not be the case if it hadn't been my first. From a more detached viewpoint, THIS YEAR'S MODEL.

: 5. least favorite elvis costello album?

I don't know, I haven't heard each album in full. Of the ones I have, I guess ARMED FORCES is the only one that's ever rubbed me the wrong way.

: 6. favorite elvis costello line?

You're killin' me here. There are so many. I don't know where to begin. Um... I like "Now he's telling her every little thing he's done / Once he glanced at the jackets of the paperbacks, now he's read every one". I like "suddenly, you're talking like a duchess but you're still a waitress". "I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused". "Everybody loves you so much girl, I just don't know how you stand the strain." The entire final verse of "Clown Strike" is great. And "don't try to read my mind, it's full of disappearing ink". Um... I dunno. Basically, MY AIM IS TRUE, THIS YEAR'S MODEL, and BRUTAL YOUTH are the three albums I worship.

: 7. Have you seen him live? Was he good?

I haven't, and I keep missing him. Of all the musicians I think of legends who haven't died yet (and even including a couple who have), he's the only one left I haven't seen.

: 8. do you wish to see him live?

Damn straight I do.

: 9. What song would you love to see Costello cover?

God, I don't know. Given his appeal as a lyricist, I don't really want him to cover stuff.

: 10. What Costello song would you like to see another artist cover? (name band and song)

Anything, covered by me. Or by anybody.

Someday, I will perform a karaoke version of "Pump It Up", and nobody can stop me, dammit.
