The best thing about NY is that you can get anywhere you want easily and quickly on the train. You can be at Madison Square Garden to see the Rangers kick the Islanders ass, see Radiohead at the Beacon, go bowling at Chelsea Piers, see a taping of Letterman or Conan O brien in midtown, or go to the Hayden Planetarium in a few subway stops! My suggestion is pick yourself up a subscription of NY magazine. Everyweek it shows what is new in Manhattan, as far as shows, movies, galleries, restaurants, and then breaks it down into different areas...
Personally, I just went to the planetarium. They just had the music show, that was designed by Moby, it was incredible! I work right by where you are moving, you are going to love it here!
