No crappy unithreading everything in one subject all together! If the conversation wanders in two different directions, you can Choose Your Own Adventure, you don't have to mentally sort the two out! If a conversation of the cinematography on Jersey Girl rambles out into both a discussion of lenses and a discussion of whether Rodimus Prime could've led the Autobots full time? You can totally choose! Or read both separately, if you're edicius.
No fucking annoying sig files or smilies or imbedded midis!
Sometimes, man, old school sticks around because... it's still better, for certain purposes.
And for the purposes of a board that's largely interesting because of a small number of posters (Kevin and the reds) and not because of the random banter, the old school is best.
All it needed was the few registrational tweaks that Ming and a few other folk added to it.
For a board where not all posts are created equal, it's still perfect.
