Where did you get that I think directing is easy? My comment was that 50 people... in the entire world... could have done what Peter did. That still makes it pretty impressive, no? Oh.. and to be fair, I don't think Kevin would have done a good job with LOTR.
Yes, Kevin has said that his directing leaves a little to be desired. From what I've seen, those comments usually are about his visuals. However, he's also commented that usually when he says such things, he is trying to steal the thunder of other people insulting him, and he doesn't think his visuals are that bad, nor that important, since his movies aren't about visuals. Which I agree with 100%.
Maybe you're right, maybe no one else could have pulled it off as well. To each their own opinion.
: Why does everyone think being a director is easy. There is talent and skill involved and everyone seems to think that they can do it. Granted Kevin is a uber talented writer and he can get some serious line readings out of people but he himself has said that his directing leaves a little to be desired. Dont get me wrong I am a fan and I feel Kevins directing gets better with every movie but I think he is just at the tip of the iceberg (sp?) of what he is capable of.
: As far as your comments about Peter Jackson you couldn't be more wrong. You are entitled to not like the movies and that is fine but to imply that Peter Jackson was the equivilent of a cardboard cut out with a directors chair in those films is just wrong.
: I dont think anyone could have pulled off TLOTR as well as Jackson. His heart was in it and you can tell because you almost never hear debate comparing the film to the novels.
