You can get all the answers there, but basically Kevin started by doing the following:
1. Applied for a lot of credit cards and said he made 50K/year as manager of the Quick Stop.
2. Made sure to answer the phone at said Quick Stop to verify that a Kevin Smith did indeed work there, was the manager, and made 50K/year.
3. Sold his entire comic book collection.
4. Used all the funds from said credit cards and said comic book collection to finance "Clerks."
5. The rest is history.
Oh, and he met Jay through Bryan and Walt.
