No, not at all.
But the point is, just because the chat room is there, that doesn't mean people can come in and be total jackasses, just because they're fans. There are regular rules of courtesy people should generally follow. Tom chose not to follow them, and if he thinks he can, I'm more than happy to let him back in. But annoying other users, constantly begging for ops, etc, is just annoying.
Incidentally, on the channel stats I keep for the place, you can see that in the entire time the channel has been open, I've kicked out 4 people, and two of them were my bots to show people how to kick. =)

It takes a lot to piss me off, and it's not as if he came in there once, said two things, and BOOM, I kicked him out. I received a few complaints about it, and even consulted the more senior members of this board who are my channel operators for advice on what to do, such as asking their opinions on it, and what they thought of his motives.
I'm not trying to be "controlling", but I do expect people to have courtesy for everyone else.
