...that makes them different. I could be wrong, but I don't think that "Six Feet Under" in any way approaches the supernatural or mystery elements of "Carnivale".

So then, if someone is looking for precisely those elements, it may not matter whether "Six..." is more well made then "Carnivale" (which, by the way, is something I am in no way prepared to debate, as I've seen far too little of the former).
