Modern hip-hop is simply coming full circle once again... as it did in the 80s, with your Vanilla Ices and MC Hammers... exactly as metal did with your Warrants and Wingers... exactly as neo-punk did with your Good Charlottes and Blink 182s. In modern hip-hop, everyone is starting to have the same things to say over the same sampled beats, and the essence of "moving in circles" is nothing new.

Many people thought Eminem would be a shakeup, ready to infuse some life into an entire genre of music, but even he has become a parody of himself. But sooner or later, someone will accomplish something considered a breakthrough, and the entire genre will change. Then someday, that'll get old, too.

Music has very fine lines drawn between original and cliché, moreso than any other artistic medium, simply because you can't reinvent the wheel.

People love "old school" because within that genre, it IS the wheel.
