: When you sit down to work on whatever it is you're writing, be it a script, novel, short story, etc. Do you just sit down with a vague idea of what you want in mind and start writing, or do you make an outline and work from there? Just curious.

I get the idea, it usually just starts with a phrase of some kind that's at the core of what I need to say. Then I think about it a lot, think about where it needs to go, then I sit down and write. Usually it takes form as an essay, short story, song lyric or poem. I've never done a script or novel yet, but I've been working on a series of short stories that almost could be pulled together as a novel. I'm still debating this one.
