I did a study about execution here in the United States when I was in college. 1 out of every 3 people executed was later found innocent. Most people who sit on death row, sit there for 15 plus years, and how is that to make the victims' families feel any better? I interviewed families who witnessed the execution of their family member's killer and they walked away feeling just as empty and horrible as the day they learned of the killing. Especially when they are dragged into court, reliving the event every time the person on death row uses an appeal. The electric chair itself..good god! The sadist who thought up this device as a means to terminate a life, should have been locked up or sought out like Josef Mengele.
It's also not proving to be a deterant to murder (or espionage, since that's also a Capital Punishment offense). I have never been able to understand why the government feels they can kill someone......to prove that killing is wrong.
This is my one "thing", my one true moral conviction that I feel most strongly in..and that is that execution in the hands of a government, any government is very very wrong.
