What gives with a Romero zombie flick remake with zombies that run and jump? Am I alone in thinking this changes the whole dynamic of why they're scary, especially in Dawn? The whole ideas was that they seemed almost harmless because they were slow and akward, but then you realize you're surrounded by a group of them and they just keep coming and coming and there's no way out, then they slowly devour you alive. Scary. I can think of two examples of "zombie" movies with fast aggressive zombies recently...28 Days Later, which was a great movie (though the zombies weren't really zombies, just a vague idea with lots of Romero themes and homages woven in) and House Of The Dead (which blew, as a movie, as a zombie movie, as anything...it was a hunk of crap that should have went straight to video. How it got to the big screen I'll never figure out).

I was waiting to be disappointed, and I think my wait is over. I don't think it would be such a big deal if they just made a new zombie movie instead of making it a Romero remake and changing the really great elements in it. Of course, then it would either be a blatant rip off or a totally different movie and someone would actually have to come up with an original screenplay that was good and captured the imagination of people beyond lots of quick cut action sequences and hard rock/nu metal soundtracks under gun battles and kung fu fights...blaaah.

It might end up entertaining, but the prospects don't look good for Romero fans.

: for the new 'Dawn of the Dead'?

: Looks maybe promising, but I kind of wish they would have done an entirely DIFFERENT movie rather than a remake. That's what made '28 Days Later' so great, even though it borrowed from all sorts of zombie movies, it wasn't a blatant remake.

: Who knows?
