It's not that 'Gigli' is a bad movie. I have never seen it so I can't make that judgement. But, in everyone's eyes it has become a diseased film.
What sucks is that in most people's eyes (those not familiar with Kevin's work much) will think this is another 'Gigli' just because it stars the two of them.
The only logical way around that is too make it a point that this is more of a director/writer film than 'Gigli' was. Sort of to make it a point that 'If you like Clerks, you'll love Jersey Girl', instead of 'Forget about Gigli, THIS is a good movie'.
