Hell, even if it is 'sick', it is still intriguing. Unless you turned off the TV when those planes hit, you have no right to talk. It's not like he's sitting there, dwelling on the planes and jerking off onto the screen.
He is simply intrigued to see another angle of it and wants to see it.
It's that whole slowing down to see a car wreck type of thing.
The images may be intense, but that's what makes them necessary to see.
