I love Metallica. I love everything they've ever done (save the song "Shoot Me Again", on the new album, which is too damn "nu metal" for my tastes), and I don't see what the big deal is with their stylistic shift from '91 to '97. Yeah, they progressively got more and more bluesy and hard-rock-minded and less metallic, but they still stayed true to their primary musical philosphy, and that is their devotion to the power of the god-damned riff. Metallica always have and always will be the font of the best riffs rock and roll has to offer, and that is why they rule the universe.
