I saw a guy below asking about films to see so he can understand Kill Bill more. Why I respect a guy trying to educate himself film-wise, I'd just like to say it's not necessary.
For example, do you really need to see French cinema to know how cool that dance scene in Pulp Fiction is? Would it really help to know that Resevoir dogs takes cues from a Ringo Lam film (forget the name).
I am surrounded by post-modernism (My roomate Nick is currently writing post-modern poetry and it does my headf in) and all I really want is some good fashion arse-kickery accompanied by wa-ching sword slashing noises. So long as I get plenty of that, and a few good jokes and maybe some character, I don't mind.
