Yeah, my friend had a problem with that, too. I didn't think it was so bad (assuming we're talking about the crazy 88 fight, rather than the opening). What I did have a problem with was the blue silhouette stuff, just because its kind of an overdone device. I also think there should have been a scene in between the credits and the fight at the Vivica Fox's house. Something about the pacing was kind of off. Those were the only flaws I saw.
I also noticed it wasn't just throwing back to kung-fu fight scenes in those movies. Sequences like the man from okinawi or whatever that was, where she gets the sword, felt like the scenes between action beats in the kind of stuff the film is derivative of.
Great, great, great movie.
