they deal with sex drugs pregnancy abortion rascism suicide and depression, basically dispelling the notion that small town life is quaint, simple, and happy. The town is called remington, and the main charcter makes early mention of having a classic case of the "homtown blues," hence Remington Blues, but we all know where that lead...
