let it lose. If it looks sick or injured (which by your description it seems that way) Step on it quicky and flush it. Actually that could back up your toilet, and with a dead mouse you dont want that. dump it in your neighbors trash can. not yours. it will stink and attract ants. strange,i have a dead lizard outside right now that needs dealing with
