First of all, the reason that location matters is the name of the trilogy...JERSEY Trilogy.
Also, the term was coined back when it was a trilogy, it has lingered just because everyone knows what they mean and it's easier than saying "The Pentalogy", and then you have to wonder if Scream 3 and Drawing Flies count since they feature Jay and Silent Bob.
Don't focus on semantics, it'll get your ass flamed.
