Rivers has said that he doesn't like it because he was trying to mold his music to what was popular at the time. He also said he felt it was too "emo".

Hard question to answer. I mean Weezer's Pinkerton may not be Rivers Cuomos favorite Weezer record, but most hardcore Weezer fans consider it their best. Point is, for every person who says something is "overrated" OR "underrated" there's a ton of people who disagree.
