I'll be the first person to give an honest opinion and not a manufactured response due to Kevin's celebrity status (whether that be kissing up or bashing). The trailer took some getting used to, as I'm not used to Kevin's movies being of a serious nature (although I felt right at home when I saw some kids exchanging peeks at their privates. Way to keep it real, Kev). I liked the trailer, although it was confusing at times. I still don't know if JLo's character died or just left Ben. Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with the plot leaks. I think it could be a real success, especially with the female audiences. Looks like there might be some teary scenes, and some good laughs. My main concern is the whole Ben/JLo thing. I know for myself, I'm so SICK of hearing about them. Now I have to hear on the evening news that they got a gun license? Who the fuck cares? I think the mainstream audience doesn't have the insight to filmmaking as most View Askew fans do. They could care less who wrote or directed a movie. I think most people categorize movies by the actors in the movie. So, unfortunately, this will be seen as a Ben & JLo movie, not a Kevin Smith movie (except for Kevin fans and film buffs). I think the over exposure of the couple paired with the failure of Gigli might hurt the film's chances. I hope not, because I'm a Kevin fan and would like to see his success outside of a snootchie bootchie movie. Best of luck, and I'll be there opening night. I just hope millions of others are too.
