The movie in question is Les Dangeureux; a French-Canadian film about a kidnapped pop music celebrity, the accountant hired to deliver the ransom, the hit men sent to kill the kidnappers, the record producer paying the ransom/embezzling from the pop star, the accountant's suicidal brother and all the shit that hits the fan when everybody fucks up what should otherwise be a simple kidnapping/extortion scheme.
My wife and I rented this movie last weekend--namely because it was shot in our old neighbourhood. Usually we don't go for Quebecois cinema, just because, but this movie we were curious about, and we about died laughing.
Although much of the Quebec-centric humour would be lost in translation there is so much more in the script that could be worked with...I hope to Christ somebody takes a look at optioning this for the American/international market!
