: I mean, you have the lovey-dovey "my girl" pop-songs, but Hard Days is when the Beatles began to expand a bit more musically. Many will Say what they will as non pre-Rubber Soul Beatles fans about their less than great talent in during this period...just REALLY listen to this album, it *is* great.
I agree that it is one of their great albums, though I think "Beatles For Sale" is really when you notice a change (pre-"Rubber Soul"). The songs on "Beatles For Sale" do sound like their typical pop stuff, but you notice their 'tiredness' on each track. Just look at the cover & you'll see what I mean.
"Rubber Soul" is the album that broke them out of the pop rock mold, but "Revolver" is really the one that changed their sound forever. The 'hell with' "Sgt. Pepper's". "Revolver" is the one that blows their sound 'out of the water'.
