writing is not only a great way into the business but can make you rich as a...uhhhhhhhh bank... yea that works.
I've talked to a few film professors who have told me they have seen these horrible, cliched pieces of crap films bought and solds for much, much money. One told me of an 8 year old selling his short story script. someone bought it. Studios also buy ideas for hundereds of thousands of dollars. fuckin insane. only drawback is once you sign them over your script, they can do whatever the hell they want with it. lets say you write a holocaust drama involving a jewish clown. they pay you x amount of money and you are happy. then you are crusing through the porn section of your local video store and you see your name listed as "writer" or "story by" on a gay cowboy porno, that just so happens to involve a jewish clown
as long as you tell em you don't want your name included, then you are safe though. i am rambling. goodnight.
