: I'm looking for something really different, be it a comedy, drama or mystery. Maybe along the lines of Palinchuck (however you spell his name) or Ellis.
It's Palahniuk. All of his that I've read are great:
Fight Club
Survivor
Invisible Monsters (you want different, this is it)
Choke
As for Ellis (my favorites):
Less than Zero
The Rules of Attraction
Also, try some Vonnegut if you haven't:
Cat's Cradle
The Siren's of Titan
Slaughterhouse Five
I also really like Douglas Clegg (if you do the "horror" thing), try:
The Halloween Man
The Infinite
And, as always...you can't go wrong with Stephen King (most of the time, I mean). If you haven't read The Dark Tower series...you should check it out.
Also, Clive Barker is a good standby: The Great and Secret Show is my favorite.
Hope that helps.
