Really? Then your definition is wrong. "Tanked" means flopped. A movie that loses money. This movie is holding steady. It's a movie for adults in the summer, where everything else is for kids. Adults don't have to see shit opening weekend, they go when they go...and word of mouth is great.
It doesn't have to "pick up" more box office, as long as it continues to not have a huge drop off for a while.
To say it "tanked" is simply wrong. It's like saying "Keira Knightley is fat...I mean sure she weighs eighty pounds soaking wet, but I have this super different definition of fat than the rest of the world, so I'm right."
